This morning I had my follow-up visit to the cardiologist. The appointment was at 9:45 and I saw the doctor around 11:15. Holy longest wait ever Batman.
I was just as impressed with the cardiologist this time as I was at my initial appointment. He is very thorough and cautious – I felt that he was really looking at everything and looking at my symptoms as related to me before making any decisions. A+ in my book.
Everything looks great. My heart monitor results and my Echo results came back completely normal. Yay for a healthy heart!!
My instructions from him are to keep wearing the support hose and to eat lots of bananas to help with my potassium levels.
So where do we go from here?
Based on feedback from my obstetrician on Wednesday and the cardiologist today, at this point we are managing symptoms. While I am very relieved that everything is normal, I was kind of hoping that something little would be found because these lightheadedness issues are awful.
Combined feedback from the obstetricians (good news is I’ve met half the practice at this point!) and the cardiologist are to do the following:
- Eat iron-rich foods
- Eat a lot of protein to maintain blood sugar levels
- Eat a lot of bananas for potassium
- Drink a lot of water/Gatorade
- Wear the support hose daily
I have reached the they are helping so I don’t care what I look like point with the support hose and twice this week have worn them with a skirt or dress. They really do make a huge difference in how I feel overall. I did get a new Rx today to get a footless pair that will be less hot (and look slightly less ridiculous with sandals).
