Mike, L.J. and I took our first real outings as a family this weekend. We had a great time!
Friday night we went to dinner with friends. Our friends Rachel and James are moving to Taiwan to teach English for a year, so we got together for a goodbye dinner. The restaurant is small, unfussy and busy but rarely crowded – perfect now that our group includes two babies!
It’s fun to think back on how our group has changed. We all met back in 2007 when we were all only a few years out of school and single. We have a lot of fun memories together! There were 8 of us in the original group, and now 4 of us are married and 1 is engaged. Two of us have children. Three have moved away.
On Saturday we had an errand to run in Alpharetta, so we had a delicious lunch at Rising Roll and then took L.J. for a walk on the Big Creek Greenway.
This picture kills me. Hilarious. We decided to try out his new sunglasses; he really wasn’t a fan.
It was gorgeous outside – warm and sunny. I was like a kid on Christmas morning because I was finally – FINALLY – able to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. I don’t think I can properly convey just how excited I was to be able to spend time walking outside. I have been pretty much couch-bound since last July, so this was nothing short of awesome.
See below? That’s me! Outside! Walking!
The Big Creek Greenway was perfect because it’s completely flat and paved. We went at a snail’s pace, but I really didn’t care. Did I mention I was outside in warm weather and able to walk for more than 10 feet?
I really enjoyed our family time this weekend and can’t wait for more weekends like this as Spring – and nice weather – begin to arrive.
