Oh, Friday. You are finally here. I feel like a beleaguered train chugging into the station. Working full-time plus L.J. not yet sleeping through the night makes for one tired mommy. Bless my sweet husband for being so willing to get up with L.J. on the few occasions where I just can’t drag myself out of bed.
There is nothing quite so adorable as a sleeping baby, especially when it’s your baby curled up in your arms after being apart from you all day. He falls asleep in a sweet prayerful position:
And soon he is fast asleep and lets it all hang out:
At about that time I get my much-needed break, perusing blogs and then hitting the newsstand:
Have you heard of the NextIssue App for iPad? It is one of my absolute favorite things. It is basically Netflix for magazines. A monthly subscription gets me access to every magazine I have interest in reading as well as a year’s worth of back issues.
NextIssue was a lifesaver when I was stuck on the couch while pregnant and after L.J. was born. I love to read magazines, so to have 24/7 access to a virtual newsstand is sort of like Utopia for me.
It’s $10/month for regular/$15 if you want People and Sports Illustrated. I think the price structure is very fair. There are about a dozen magazines I peruse regularly and others that I just occasionally read for something different. $15/month is worth it just for People alone; I love that magazine but used to rarely read it because it was so pricey.
What about reading it on iPad vs. a paper magazine? The interface is just like reading a paper magazine – it looks almost identical in every regard to a paper magazine, you just swipe the pages instead of flipping them. In my current situation (apartment with a baby), NextIssue offers two huge advantages. First, I don’t have magazines piling up everywhere. Second, have you tried to read a paper magazine (or book or newspaper) while holding a baby? Virtually impossible. With NextIssue all I need is a finger.
This is not a sponsored review; I just love NextIssue so much I wanted to blog about it. If you are interested, it works a little different than a regular App. You have to go to the NextIssue website to sign up for it and then you download the App so that you can read it.
