I’m behind on my blog…still haven’t posted L.J.’s 12-week picture or his 3-month update (which needs written…). Hopefully this weekend I’ll have some time to catch up. Right now I feel like I’m redefining the meaning of exhaustion.
Isn’t my little guy cute? Last night we (L.J. and I) were invited to Mike’s GSU basketball banquet. I was apparently secondary in importance; everyone just wanted to meet L.J. It’s ok…I’m getting used to that being the case…
We arrived a minute late (ihateatlantatraffic) so I didn’t have a chance to change L.J. into one of the cute outfits I brought. At least I thought ahead and put him in a cute sleep ‘n play yesterday morning that L.J. thankfully didn’t wreak havoc on at school.
That doesn’t explain the Onesie in the pic above, does it? I’m getting to that.
Anyway, we arrive and are told that our seats are at the front table. I’m sure I had a slight look of horror on my face when I realized we were being seated approximately 5 feet from the awards podium. Hungry baby + Witching Hour = Anyone’s Game
I was worrying needlessly because L.J. was a model guest and barely made a peep through the whole thing. Several people commented at the end that they didn’t even know there was a baby there. Great job buddy!!
Now about that Onesie. I earned an extra entry on my Mom of the Year application by leaving the diaper bag in the car. I figured it was a short program and he’d been recently changed. Stuck his bottle in my purse and that was it.
First, he filled his pants while drinking his bottle. Fortunately it was not a blowout nor one you could smell across the room. Whew.
Next, during the Athletic Director’s comments, he volcanoed his entire bottle down the front of his outfit. That smelled like death. At least he did it silently. I quickly grabbed his blanket (because I also failed on the burp cloth front) and covered him up, praying no one else at the table was enjoying their dessert accompanied by the stench of regurgitated milk.
Sigh. Lesson Learned!
After the program I stripped him down as several people wanted to say Hi to him. L.J. was a complete ham, smiling and flirting with all the ladies who were cooing at him. I think he enjoyed having the spotlight on him for a few minutes!
We just love our content and happy baby. He is recovering well from his cold and seems to be close to his normal self. Although, he still isn’t eating much. I’ll be calling the pediatrician today to ask about that.
Mike is also recovering well. Last night at dinner was his first meal in several days. It was down-home Southern food and I told him that if he overdid it, got sick and kept me up all night he was on all-night L.J. duty the following night.
I’m glad he kept his food down, but I will admit a tiny part of me (ok maybe not so tiny…) was secretly hoping I might get a full night of sleep tonight.
