Boys will be boys…

January, Schmanuary. I always feel like January (and often February) are tough months. Not much going on after the holidays and we’re often stuck inside due to unfavorable weather.

So let’s reminisce on more holiday fun! L.J. and his Uncle J.T. had quite a bit of fun together over the holidays, enjoying “boy” things that mommy only marginally approved of. But that’s the point, right? Favorite uncle status is not achieved by following mommy’s boring rulebook.

There was drum-playing in Grandpa’s music room. L.J., who loves to bang on anything, thought this was great!

Grandpa hung a swing in the basement for L.J.; his uncles provided the accessories.

(Those would be my mom’s snow boots and a swim toypedo)

In the spirit of yuletide fun and in the absence of any snow, a large box was turned into an indoor sled. This provided quite a bit of entertainment.

When the indoor sled got old, why not try a tractor ride?

And then, of course, we have the now-infamous “toad incident.” L.J. was in his highchair eating dinner when J.T. came in and put a six-pack on his tray. He then encouraged L.J. to reach in and grab one. Well, unbeknownst to me, my brother had found a small toad out on the driveway and hid it in the bag. Before I even knew what was happening, L.J. pulled out the toad and promptly stuck it in his mouth. Disgusting doesn’t even begin to cover it.

(No pictures of this thankfully…)

I cherish the bond that L.J. and J.T. have developed. They are crazy about each other and I love to see them hanging out and having fun together.
