What a change we’ve seen in L.J. the past two weeks! He can now easily and quickly stand up on almost anything and he’s become much more adept at cruising along furniture. He will also transfer between two pieces of the furniture as long as they are very close together (like the coffee table and the couch).
I think we are still a ways off from walking – he still doesn’t like to walk holding our hands and he doesn’t stand independently – but we are getting closer every day!
In addition to standing and cruising, L.J. has also been hard at work on another motor skill. He now takes things out and puts them back in. It’s neat to watch him work on this skill – he is very deliberate and calculated about it. He also will take something out of one of his bins and then put it right back.
Also, and interesting tidbit I want to record for posterity:
Yesterday morning L.J. found the coffee mugs we had stashed under the bed. I told him no, put them back and then redirected him to another part of the room. Shortly thereafter I turned around to see him crawling – almost slinking like a fox – along the perimeter of the bed, intently looking underneath it. He was looking for the coffee cups I had taken away! Despite the fact that he was disobeying, I was fascinated watching his brain try to solve the puzzle.
