(A sampling of our day as told by unedited iPhone pictures…)
We started the day with a bottle and a very chatty L.J. He soon grew sleepy, but wanted to make sure no one messed with his paci.
Awhile later my dad asked me to send him a photo of L.J. I quickly snapped one with my phone and was delighted at the result – love this photo!
We headed out the door for L.J.’s school orientation meeting. I slung the diaper bag over my shoulder, leaned down for the carrier and was quickly doused in something cold and wet. Surprised and startled, I realized I’d given myself my very first Gatorade bath. Fail on putting a lidded glass in the side pocket.
Nevermind what my response was. Hope L.J. had earmuffs on. Anyway, I had no time to change and nothing to change into anyway. Gotta love having only one pair of jeans that fit. Off we went to school, L.J. clean and smartly dressed, mommy wet and perfumed with Gatorade.
Mike met us at school, where we visited L.J’s classroom and met with the director. We almost didn’t meet with the director because upon entering his classroom reality hit me with even more force than my surprise Gatorade bath. I wanted to grab my baby and run screaming in the opposite direction.
There was nothing wrong with the classroom or teachers. It’s just the thought that my little baby is going to be spending the whole day with strangers and a passel of classmates, the majority of whom had runny noses.
It’s enough to send this mommy halfway to crazytown on the express train.
I managed to keep my composure and we had a successful orientation. Then I loaded L.J. up and cried all the way to Target. (Can I please blame some of this on postpartum hormones?)
I went to Target primarily for pseudoephedrine (and secondarily because it’s like WDW for grown women). I was under the impression that allergies don’t start until March. Thanks for that early gift Mother Nature. My eyes and nose have been running non-stop since Sunday night. I’m already well into the extra cushy box of Kleenex I bought today.
(Gatorade pants and a runny nose…I sure know how to maximize a first impression…)
Not pictured: the large quantity of white chocolate M&M’s I have consumed today. I knew better than to stick them in the cart. I did it anyway.
L.J. decided to see if he could capitalize on mommy’s fragile emotions and boycott stationary objects for his afternoon nap. It worked and he’s been camped out on me. Another picture of him in all his cute glory:
Oh, and since he decided to urp half his bottle on his outfit (and then loudly demand a fresh one 20 min. later…) I just stuck a Onesie on him. And then I couldn’t resist a picture of his deliciously chunky thighs.
