Landon – 11 Weeks

IMG_3321

We spent the majority of this week up in Greenville, enjoying another long visit. My time in Greenville has been a true highlight of my maternity leave. L.J. and I have so enjoyed the additional family time and memories that we’ve made.

There weren’t any big milestones this week, but L.J. is continuing to become more interactive and we are really enjoying watching him grow.

I read in one of my baby books (which I’ve learned to only occasionally reference) that feeding time should always be a special bonding time with baby, time to gaze into baby’s eyes and establish a loving connection. Yeah, uh huh. L.J. usually eats with his eyes at least halfway closed and pays only partial attention to the person feeding him. And in the middle of the night mommy and L.J. both are half asleep and dazed!

As a result, I will often peruse my iPad while feeding him during the day. Every once in awhile though, I’ll look down at him and realize he’s looking up at me with a coy little grin. It’s the cutest thing and – mommy guilt established – I quickly put down my electronic toy and spend some quality time with my little guy. (Which typically involves emitting ever-stupider sounds to coax smiles and squeals…)

On this particular occasion I taught him how to do his adorable lip pout and captured it on camera! It was fascinating to watch him stare intently at me and move his mouth different ways until he figured out how to do it just like mommy. We may or may not have spent the better part of 20 minutes working on this skill.

Since I’ll be going back to work next week I plan to start doing more individual posts of milestones and family activities. While I’ve been home and we haven’t been out much it’s made more sense to do a weekly summary of L.J.’s new developments, but hopefully now we’ll be out and about more and able to share fun family memories.
