Landon is 2-months old! Hard to believe – I feel like I just did his 1-month post. Month two has been a lot of fun. We have emerged (mostly) from the pure survival mode of the first six weeks and have started to settle into a routine.
Weight: 13 lbs, 12 oz (75th-85th percentile)
Height: 23.75” (50th percentile)
Diaper Size: 1 – but very close to needing size 2
Clothes: 3-6 months and 6 months
He had his 2 month appointment this week. The pediatrician came in and her first comment was, “He sure likes to eat doesn’t he?!” He is a big baby and his head is now in the 95th percentile. He got his first round of shots and took them like a champ.
L.J. has become more alert and interactive, sharing smiles and engaging in his own form of baby conversation. He continues to be a calm and content baby, usually only fussy when he wants his paci and for a short period in the evening after dinner. We have been so blessed with his happy-go-lucky personality!
He doesn’t really “play” yet. He’s not that interested in toys or his play mat, and lasts through about 2 pages of a board book. I expressed concern to the pediatrician that I felt like I should be playing/stimulating/educating him and she informed me, quite bluntly, that “Landon isn’t old enough to play yet.” Ok, so I can remove the mom guilt about that…whew.
He is taking 5 ounces of formula every 3 hours during the day. Bedtime bottle is at 8:00 p.m. and he wakes up twice at night to eat. He goes right back to sleep after the first feeding; it’s 50/50 after the second.
We’re still working on a nighttime schedule, but the pediatrician said that it’s not realistic to expect him to wake up only once at this point. She said some babies do it, but most don’t. That was reassuring (though maybe a bit discouraging!) to hear. She also said that what we are doing – inserting paci when fussing; feeding when crying – is exactly what we should be doing. I gave myself a mommy pat on the back after hearing that.
L.J. went on his first road trips (both to Greenville) this month and he does great in the car! He falls asleep pretty quickly and if he’s awake he is content to look around.
We rarely left the house during month two, still concerned about flu season and taking the pediatrician’s advice to stay indoors away from people as much as possible. To say that I’m a bit stir crazy is an understatement, but I have enjoyed hanging out with L.J. and spending so much time with him before I have to go back to work.
Favorite Activities: Taking a bath is his #1 favorite thing to do, lay on the changing table and looking out the window, being held and snuggled, looking at himself in the mirror (bonus if he gets to see mommy or daddy there too)
Least Favorite Activities: Getting dressed and/or his diaper changed. Getting strapped into his car seat.
Places we visited: Lowes (first outing), Haywood Mall (first “big” outing), Cracker Barrel (first restaurant), Greenville, SC (first trip)
Dear L.J.,
Month two has been so much fun! You have started to interact with us more and it gives us great pleasure to see you reach new milestones. Before you joined us, I always thought that I would be sad when the early newborn days were gone because I love holding tiny babies. But now I can honestly say that instead of being sad I look forward to all that’s yet to come. I delighted in your first smiles and coos and I know that just around the corner we’ll get to experience you holding your head up and rolling over for the first time. Each day is a new discovery and daddy and I love being on this journey with you.
Love,
Mommy
P.S. – Did you check out his thighs??
