Landon – 8 Weeks

IMG_3207_2

I feel like week 8 was a big one for L.J. developmentally. He’s starting to become more interactive and interested in his surroundings, which has been a lot of fun to watch.

He debuted a new facial expression this week – the pout. He sticks his lower lip out and it’s absolutely adorable. (I’m enjoying it now…I’m sure the same won’t be said a few years from now!)

Last Thursday I went to get him after his nap, and when I peered over the crib he looked up at me and smiled. Completely melted my heart! Friday morning he shared his first big, gummy smile with me and made my day. (I think that was his way of apologizing for a rough night…)

His convertible car seats arrived this week. We went ahead and purchased them – Britax Boulevard – because I got a crazy good deal on them. The car seat says it’s for infants 5 lbs and up. I’m not sure how that’s possible because I couldn’t get the harness to fit or tighten around L.J. properly and he’s twice that weight. This picture cracks me up…the seat just swallows him whole!

We have made some major progress in not napping on mommy this week! He’s been good about taking his morning nap in his crib. I was so pleased with his nap progress that I tried to have him sleep in his crib on Thursday night. It was not a success, so we’ll wait until his magical vibrating box arrives from Graco before we try again.

I took L.J. on his first errand this week. We went to Lowe’s to get a new sink faucet. I walked into the store and immediately ran smack into a very elderly woman who naturally wanted to know all of L.J.’s vital statistics. She kept a respectful distance so I was happy to indulge her questions. And then I had a total mommy brain moment…

Lady: “What is his name?”
Me: “Landon.”
Lady: “Oh, like the capital of England?”
Me: What the heck is the capital of England? Maybe there’s a regional capital called Landon?? “Yes, like the capital.”

As I was walking away it hit me like a ton a bricks. You idiot! LONDON is the capital of England. DUH!! The lady thought you said “London” not “Landon.”

This photo kills me. Sometimes we let L.J. “watch TV” as a distraction, usually when we’re trying to get dinner on the table. He probably can’t see the actual picture, but he’s fascinated by the light when the screen changes.
